Membership

It’s easy to borrow tools! Membership is open to anyone over 18 with valid ID and proof of address. East and West Side Tool Library members must also be a current member of either PUSH Buffalo or Buffalo ReUse ($5/year). University Heights Tool Library members need not be a member of the University Heights Collaborative.

How does borrowing work?

Just like a regular public library – except members borrow tools!

Any tool can be borrowed for one week and renewed once for an additional week. Certain tools require that the member be safety-trained before borrowing. Ask us about upcoming training sessions!

If the borrowed tool isn’t returned on time, a late fee of $1/day/tool will be charged to the member. This includes days the library is not open.

Individuals

Members can borrow from any branch, but they must be returned to the branch where they were borrowed. There are no limits on tools borrowed at one time and no reservations in advance by individuals.

Agencies

Agencies may become Tool Library members by authorizing an individual to take responsibility for borrowing tools. All tools borrowed by agencies must be reserved in advance.
